I’m excited to show you this post about bride Katrina’s bespoke winter wedding dress and cape, that she wore at her wedding to husband Kevin, in an ice chapel in Finland!
Katrina’s A-line wedding dress is made from Mikado fabric, with long sleeves and a fake fur collar and removable cuffs. The velvet and fake fur cape sits under the collar and over the top of the dress, and is attached at the shoulders of the dress with concealed buttons.
Katrina said: ‘Thank you so much for such an amazing dress, I really did feel like a snow queen and it kept me lovely and warm!’
Given the wedding venue and climate, Katrina knew she wanted her snowy winter wedding dress and cape to keep her warm but still look bridal. What you can’t see are her furry snow boots and full length thermals under her dress!
When the cape is removed, the dress still has the integral fur collar attached to help keep warm around the neckline.
Although practical, Katrina wanted her wedding dress to be obviously bridal, with clean lines and no sparkle or fuss. The Mikado suited this look perfectly with its ability to look flat and pure in the snow and hold its A-line silhouette well. I really enjoy the hand sewn elements of creating wedding dresses which is useful as this bespoke wedding dress has 175 buttons individually hand sewn down the centre back.
