Did you know I am also a designer dressmaker for mothers of the Bride and Groom too?
I decided to start dressmaking for mothers of the bride and groom properly after the lockdowns. It’s been something I’ve been asked to do for many years. I shied away from it for years mainly because I found the vast selection of suitable dressmaking fabrics for Mothers of the Bride and Groom that are available overwhelming, and I wasn’t sure how I would approach that. However I’ve overcome this through a combination of having some samples of suitable plain fabrics available in the studio, together with viewing more fancy fabrics online (samples of which can be ordered). I also send my Mothers of the Bride and Mothers of the Groom on shopping trips to London or elsewhere, to actually look at and choose fabrics they love, which works well too.
Another option that comes up is mothers of the bride and groom bringing me lovely fabrics they’ve had for years, which I can incorporate into the outfit.
