What better way to start the New Year than with a glamorous red silk winter wedding dress worn in the snow?

Four days before Christmas, bride Saleha and fiancé Russ eloped to marry in the stunning snowy Canadian Rockies, Banff, Alberta. I’m so excited to show you the images from their gorgeous snowy winter wedding day!

Saleha wanted a Dr Zhivago inspired look for her day. The wedding took place in Lake Louise Canada, where part of the famous film was shot. Being an outside wedding (literally amidst the falling snow), Saleha came to me to design and create a glamorous red silk bespoke wedding dress, which would look stunning against the beautiful white snow.

For the snowy outside day ceremony, Saleha chose a claret red silk duchess satin full skirted ball gown style dress. This would later reveal a fishtail dress for the evening dinner. Choosing red also meant she could wear the fishtail red silk dress again to black tie events.

I worked with her to create a beautiful dress with a full skirt and train, which sat seamlessly on top of the strapless fishtail dress. It looked amazingly dramatic against the soft snow. We added a gray faux fur wrap, gloves, cuffs and hat to keep warm. I also made Saleha matching long silk fingerless gloves to keep her arms warm while outside and a matching silk bag for those bridal essentials.

It was a pleasure to work on a dress that was dramatic, stunning and totally romantic. As a two-piece, the dress also incorporates the trend for wedding dresses that transform to give the bride a different look for day and evening.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these images as much as I did! Saleha and Russ look so happy, and I think you’ll agree that she looks stunning!
