I made this beautiful multicoloured floral wedding dress for bride Emily for her wedding to Jon last year.

Emily visited me knowing what design she wanted me to create for her. Her idea was to have a shorter dress that was easy to wear and dance in, with a longer skirt over the top so it looked like a more traditional shaped wedding dress when worn together. It was very important to Emily that she had a dress she could wear again. Both parts of the ensemble definitely fitted the brief!

This image shows Emily in her fitting wearing the shorter dress with the long skirt hanging next to her. We kept the design simple to show off the fabric. I’m always happy to use fabrics that brides bring to me, as long as they work for the design we’re creating. It’s a good idea to buy a small piece or get a sample first before committing to a particular fabric. Emily sourced this multicoloured floral fabric herself from Etsy and I overlaid it onto an ivory satin for both the dress and the skirt.

Like a lot of brides Emily wanted comfortable feet and a relaxed vibe so wore Converse trainers for her wedding shoes. Her mum embroidered them for her to match the embroidered lace of her dress.

I hope you agree that this is a lovely dress and Emily looks stunning in it! I really enjoyed creating this dress and the photos show it off beautifully.
The wedding photographers are Andy and Szerdi.
The wedding was conducted by Emily’s mum Corinne who is herself a celebrant.
