This is a post about a short white wedding dress influenced by a modern fairy story.
Did you dream of your wedding dress when you were small? Some do, some don’t. Today I’m going to show you a bride who did.
Perhaps you read the title and thought instantly of some sort of extremely fluffy princess style fairytale look. Well you’re a bit off the mark, for this bride’s dress is quite a modern and simple look, based on a modern fairy story.
I’ll leave the actual story until the end to see if you recognise it.
Here is bride Zoe, who visited me to discuss having always wanted to wear a wedding dress influenced by her favourite film.
We made a few changes to the fabrication and details within the dress, but essentially its very close to the original story imagery.
Zoe’s short white wedding dress influenced by a modern fairy story is made from a mix of white silk Dupion for the main body of the dress, and a white satin for the collar, cuffs and bow to provide a textural contrast. The skirt of the dress was overlaid with white tulle which provides a wonderful gauzy look when she moves.
I hope you like this dress and I wonder if you’ve recognised it? It’s from Edward Scissorhands, which is Zoe’s favourite film from her childhood.
If you could choose a dress or an outfit from a story, what would it be? I’d love to know…
Perhaps you have some ideas for your wedding dress based on a story and would like to bring them to life? Do get in touch to discuss this with me. I’m always excited to work on new projects with you!
