This is bride Tess who married Jon in the spring of 2022. She wore a vintage lace and silk satin wedding dress.
When we started work on this wedding dress some Covid advisories were still in force, which is strange to look back on now. Many of the studio images include face masks.

Tess had a stash of gorgeous vintage laces and silk from when her mum owned a fabric shop. She asked me to use them for her dress and I was happy to oblige. We settled on a simple design with soft lace sleeves and bodice together with a silk satin skirt.
The design has a cut out back detail. Below you can see Tess in a toile fitting where we worked out the fit and the exact size of the cut out shape.

Tess chose to further personalise her dress and have contrasting buttons. These were made in Liberty print fabric to match her husband’s tie. It’s a really nice touch and brings a further element of craft into the look of the wedding dress.

The above image shows a close up of the delicate vintage lace during a fitting.

It is difficult to convey how light and delicate Tess’s vintage lace and silk satin wedding dress is, but I hope these images have helped show that. I think it is one of the lightest weight dresses I have made.
Do you have some fabric you’d like to include in your wedding dress? In most cases I order in fabric for each dress, I am happy to use fabric you have, as long as I can see it first to check it will be suitable for the design. Do get in touch if you’d like to enquire.
